December Holidays This month we took a trip around the world and learned about how different people celebrate their holidays. We focused on Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas. The children enjoyed the story of Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins by Eric Kimmel, finding Israel on the map, and playing the dreidel game. |

 Then it was off to Africa to learn about Kwanzaa as I read the folktale Seven Spools of Thread:A Kwanzaa Story by Angela S. Medearis, taught a song from Ghana " Fungha Alafia Ashe Ashe" , and created a class venn diagram comparing Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.  |
 We gathered to sing the song "Fungha Alafia." The words are below, as well as another song from Ghana. Maybe you can sing it at home.
